WILMINGTON, MA — Margaret R. O’Connell (Calnan), fondly known as “Margie” to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017, in California.
Margie was born on September 14, 1935, in Boston, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late George and Margaret (Bellen) Calnan. Margie was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School. Margie married and raised her family in Wilmington for many years until she moved to Upland, CA in 1985 to be closer to her children and their families.
Margie was happy to be a wife, mom and grandma to all her family; she enjoyed family “get together’s”, dinners and back yard BBQ’s. Margie also looked forward to attending whatever sport or event her grandchildren participated in; she was always their biggest fan.
Margie was the wife of Don O’Connell, devoted mother of Don O’Connell Jr. & wife Debbie, Scott O’Connell & wife Laura and Rob O’Connell & wife Stacey, loving grandmother of Shayne, Cade, Brittany, Chelsea, Sarah and the late Donny O’Connell III. Dear sister of Helen Carta & husband Frank of Wilmington, MA, Bill Calnan of Churchill, Canada and the late Ken Duley. Margie is survived by nieces, nephews, and many dear friends on the East & West Coasts; she was also Aunt of the late Ken Duley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilmington Congregational Church, 220 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA and will be followed by luncheon to share stories in the Fellowship Hall at the Wilmington Congregational Church.
