In The News:
Curiosity Cube Comes To Wilmington: North Intermediate students were recently treated to a visit from the Curiosity Cube, a mobile technology and science lab sponsored by Millipore Sigma. The Town Crier‘s Sheryl Walsh reports that students learned about DNA extraction, the human brain, and 3D printers using hands-on activities.
You Win Some, You Lose Some: On Saturday afternoon, the WHS Field Hockey team traveled to Gloucester and defeated the Fishermen, 2-1, in overtime for a playoff victory. The WHS Girls Soccer team was defeated by Winchester, 3-1, to end its season.
Weather: A slight chance of showers after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Traffic Advisory: Butters Row Bridge will be closed through November 10. The MassDOT are repairing damaged bridge timber deck planks and timber stringers. Work will take place daily from 7am to 7pm. Detour routes are posted HERE.

In The Community: Meet sports celebrities at the Greater Boston Sports Collectors Club’s 32nd Annual Sports Card & Memorabilia Show from 9am to 3pm at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). General admission tickets cost $8. Senior citizens and children under 8 are FREE. Tickets must be purchased at the door. Tickets to autograph lines, however, can be purchased in advance on the event’s website HERE. Please carefully read the varying appearance times, pricing (it’s not cheap!), and restrictions for each sports celebrity. Appearances are subject to change.
In The Community: The Shawsheen Tech is hosting its annual Community Open House from 2pm to 4pm. Community members are invited to see all of the new opportunities available at our Shawsheen campus. Take a tour through our industry-certified vocational-technical programs, visit our on-site restaurant, bakery, and full-service salon (all open to the public)…but don’t forget to check out our new athletic facilities! Information packets provide an overview of academics, vocational-technical programs, Support Services, Cooperative Education, Guidance Services, extra-curricular activities, and athletics. In The Community: The Wilmington-based Merrimack Valley Chorus is holding its Annual Show (“Share Our Song”) at 2pm at the Wynn Middle School (1 Griffin Road) in Tewksbury. Doors open at 1pm. Enjoy an afternoon of wonderful women’s a cappella music from the Merrimack Valley Chorus. Special guests Town Meeting, an up-and-coming local folk band, will also perform. Several quartets from the chorus will take the stage as well. Tickets cost $18 and are available at the door or online HERE.
In The Community: The recently-formed Community Substance Abuse Awareness Group is meeting at 10am at St. Dorothy’s Church (11 Harnden Street). Discussion will center around the group’s current and future goals, and thoughts and ideas for education and prevention. New members are welcome.
