The Wilmington Insider For November 1, 2017

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Wednesday, November 1, 2017:

Happening Today:

Weather: Areas of frost before 9am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Traffic Advisory: Butters Row Bridge will be closed through November 10. The MassDOT are repairing damaged bridge timber deck planks and timber stringers. Work will take place daily from 7am to 7pm. Detour routes are posted HERE.

Fall Yardwaste: The Town will collect leaves and grass clippings placed in biodegradable paper bags or uncovered barrels at curbside on regular trash collection days over the next five weeks. Also, the Yard Waste Center will be open special hours today from 8am to 2pm.

At Town Hall:  The Wilmington Board of Assessors meets at 2pm in the Town Hall’s Small Conference Room. Read the agenda HERE. … The Wilmington Conservation Commission meets at 7pm in Room 9 of the Town Hall. Read the agenda HERE.

In The Community (Part 1): The American Red Cross is holding a Blood Drive at Transwestern (200 Ballardvale Street) from 10am to 3pm.

In The Community (Part 2): The Wilmington High School Class of 2018 is holding a “Dining For A Cause” fundraiser at the Ninety Nine Restaurant (144 Lowell Street) from 4pm to 11pm. 15% of your bill will be donated to this year’s WHS senior class if you present this flyer to your server/host.  The donation applies to both dine-on AND take-out orders.  No coupons, discounts or promotions are accepted during the fundraiser.

In The Community (Part 3): The Wilmington Police Department offers safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) every Wednesday, 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, but calling ahead at 978-658-5071 is recommended. Learn more HERE.

In The Community (Part 4): The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.

At Wilmington Public Schools: Title I Literacy Night takes place at the Woburn Street School from 6pm to 7:30pm. … Wilmington Band Parents Association meets at 7pm in the WHS Band Room… WPS Support Services is hosting a workshop on Behavior Management for parents of 2-to-12 year-olds in the Middle School Auditorium at 7pm.

At The Library: Wednesday Baby Times at 9:30am. Preschool Story Time at 10:30am. Tech Help Drop-In at 2pm. Kindergarten Book Club at 3:45pm. Owls Program at 6:30pm. Intro To Social Media at 7pm. [Learn more and register HERE.]

Go Wildcats!: The WHS Girls Varsity Field Hockey team opens their playoff run hosting Pentucket at 6:30pm at Wilmington High.
