Meet Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Jay Gonzalez In Wilmington On November 6

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Democratic Town Committee is hosting Massachusetts Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Jay Gonzalez at its monthly meeting on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 7pm at WCTV Headquarters (10 Waltham Street).

Any Democrat living in Wilmington is encouraged to attend.  The Town’s Democratic Town Committee always welcomes new members, according to its announcement.

Gonzalez is currently running in the Democratic Primary against two other candidates — entrepreneur Bob Massie and Newton Mayor Setti Warren.  Gonzalez was the first declared candidate in the race.

According to his campaign website, Gonzalez has an impressive resume, beginning his public sector work during the Governor Deval Patrick administration:

  • Massachusetts Secretary of Administration and Finance
  • Chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Early Education and Care
  • Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Health Connector
  • President & CEO of CeltiCare Health and New Hampshire Health Families, where he helps tens of thousands of low-income residents access needed health care services

Gonzalez, who was once a partner at a Boston law firm, lives with his wife and two daughters in Needham.

The winner of the Democratic Primary will presumably face Republican Governor Charlie Baker in the General Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  Baker has yet to publicly announce his run for re-election, but he is widely expected to do so.
