WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Sunday, September 17, 2017.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
#2) The 13th Annual Wilmington Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk is set for 10am. Start line is at WCTV (10 Waltham Street). On-site registration begins at 8am. Learn more HERE.
#3) Local Heroes is holding its Annual Car Show, beginning at noon, at the Merrimack Valley Pavilion (2087 Main Street) in Tewksbury. Local Heroes is a Wilmington-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our servicemen and women and helping veterans reintegrate back into civilian life. In addition to the Car Show, other activities include raffles, food & ice cream, mini-golf, laser tag, and arcade games. Join the Facebook event HERE. #4) The Wilmington Farmers Market is open from 10am to 1pm on the Swain Green, across from the Town Common. The lineup can be found HERE. Zoo New England will be bringing some interesting live animals for kids (of all ages) to marvel at.
#5) The fifth annual Sean Collier Cornhole Tournament will take place from 11:30am to 7:30pm at MIT’s Briggs Field (250 Vassar St., Cambridge). The event is open to all. Teams of two can enter for $50. General admission is only $5. Purchase your tickets — or make a donation — HERE. Learn more HERE.
#6) The 2nd Annual Pull For Hope will take place at 10:30am at Marshall Middle School (15 Floyd Street, Billerica). Teams will test their strength and see who can pull a fire truck 50 feet the fastest while raising funds for the Wilmington-Billerica Relay For Life. Learn more HERE.
#7) Into Action Recovery is holding their 2nd Annual Run for Recovery at the Tewksbury Memorial High School. Registration and bib pick up are at 7am, and the race begins at 9 am. Runners, walkers, and crawlers of all ages and abilities are welcome! Learn more HERE.
#8) The Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm. Learn about the canal, which travels through Wilmington.
