WILMINGTON, MA — At its most recent meeting, the Wilmington School Committee appointed Frank Antonelli to the position of Interim Director of Administration and Finance.
Antonelli temporarily replaces Paul Ruggiero, who is currently serving as the district’s Interim Superintendent. Antonelli’s contract ends on June 30.
Antonelli retired as Billerica’s Assistant Superintendent in 2010. Since then, he’s been serving as a school business consultant to several school systems, including Chelmsford, Methuen, Lowell, Framingham, Groton-Dunstable, and Winchendon.
Interestingly, Antonelli started his career in Wilmington, serving as Business Manager from 1982 to 1985. At the time, the school district’s budget was $12 million.
“Mr. Antonelli comes with very high recommendations from people who have worked with him,” said Ruggiero. “He’ll be a good addition to the team.”
Ruggiero noted that Antonelli would work, on average, just three days a week.
School Physician Appointment
Later in the same meeting, the School Committee unanimously appointed Mark Cudo as the district’s new School Physician. Curdo’s contract is for a 3-year term through June 30, 2020.
Curdo, who has a practice in Reading, lives with his family in Wilmington and has four children enrolled in the school system.
The School Committee also received the annual start-of-the-school year Personnel Report, which highlights personnel changes that took place over the summer.
Ken Storlazzi, the district’s Human Resources Administrator, and Ruggiero say the district is in very good shop in regards to filling vacancies.
New employees will be present and introduced at the next School Committee Meeting on Wednesday, September 13 at 7pm.
