10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (August 8, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see a chance of rain before noon, then a slight chance of showers between noon and 1pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 75. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

#2) The Wilmington Congregational Church (220 Middlesex Avenue) is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 2pm to 7pm. Learn more HERE.

#3) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding FIVE programs today:

  • Build A Better World Preschool Storytime:  Home Sweet Home (10am-11am)
  • Travel Club: Egypt (3pm-4pm)
  • College Essay Bootcamp (6:30pm-7:30pm)
  • How To Pack Healthy Lunches (7pm-8:30pm)

#4) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) will be holding its usual Tuesday programs:

  • 9am — Walking Group
  • 9:30am — Bocce
  • 10:30am — Aerobics
  • 12:30pm — Wii Bowling

#5) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#6) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.

#7) Rocco’s Restaurant & Bar (193 Main Street) is hosting live music with Larry Gilbert at 6pm.

#8) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Town Beach is open today.  Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 8pm. Admission is FREE for residents. Proof of residency is required. Learn more HERE.
