10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (July 5, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

#2) Get ready for an evening of killer classic rock as the 2017 “Sounds of Summer” Concert Series kicks off with “Perfect Crime” from 6:30pm to 8pm on the Wilmington Town Common. This five-piece band will present the best of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and beyond.  With three lead vocalists and over 130 songs, this band will steal the show! Bring dinner, chairs or a blanket, and relax on the Town Common to the sweet sounds of summer.

#3) The Town’s Yardwaste Center, located on Old Main Street, off of Main Street at the Woburn line, is open from 8am to 2pm. This is one of only two days the center is open this month. Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the Yardwaste Center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. #4) The Wilmington Conservation Commission meets at 7pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9).  Read the agenda HERE.

#5) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs today:

  • Tech Help Drop-In (2pm-3pm)
  • Shrinky Dinks Jewelry (3pm-4pm)
  • Angry Birds (6:30pm-7:30pm)

#6) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is holding its normal Wednesday activities:

  • SBF Exercise (9:45am)
  • Special Exercise (11am)
  • Country Line Dancing (1pm)
  • Fun Singers Rehearsal (3pm)
  • Gentle Yoga (3:45pm)

#7) The Wilmington Police Department offers safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) every Wednesday, 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, but calling ahead at 978-658-5071 is recommended. Learn more HERE.

#8) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Town Beach is open today.  Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 8pm. Admission is FREE for residents. Proof of residency is required. Learn more HERE.
