WILMINGTON, MA — Lorraine (Yentile) Stickney, fondly known as “Rainey” to her family and friends, age 71, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly at home on June 18, 2017.
Lorraine was born in Winchester, MA on August 28, 1945; she was the cherished only daughter to Sam and Helen Yentile. Lorraine was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1963.
Following High School, Lorraine went on to get her hairdressing license and followed her dream opening her own hair salon, the Second Chance Salon in North Wilmington. Lorraine loved running her own shop and she had many wonderful, faithful customers throughout the years; all of which she considered good friends.
When Lorraine retired from hairdressing she went to work as an office manager for the Birdmaster Company in Billerica. Lorraine’s great work ethic made her an asset to the company as well as earning her many new friends that she stayed close with after retiring once again.
Lorraine loved being with her family relishing the time she spent with her mother and father. Lorraine learned her cooking skills helping out in the kitchen and loved shopping, “dollar days” and couponing with her mother Helen.
Lorraine always showered her family with unconditional love; she was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, niece, cousin, friend and neighbor to many. Lorraine was very devoted to her children Michelle and Brian and she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren Kacey and Sam; they were the light of her life.
Lorraine was known to be an amazing cook and baker as well as a talented seamstress who could sew just about anything. She could make curtains and clothes, do a simple mend, upholster a couch or chair, all anyone had to do was ask.
In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed reading, following the Red Sox, and spending time with her neighbors and their children.
Lorraine will be fondly remembered as a special lady who would do anything for her family and friends; she was kind, caring, and loving to everyone she met. Lorraine will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lorraine was the beloved mother of Michelle Taylor of Edmond, OK formerly of Wilmington and Brian Stickney of Wilmington. Loving “Nanny” of Kacey and Sam Taylor, cherished daughter of the late Samuel and Helen (Hammond) Yentile, sister of James Yentile & wife Jean of Wakefield and Tom Yentile & wife Nancy of Wilmington, niece of Terry & Herbie Garey of North Reading and Vincent Yentile of Wilmington. Rainey was also very special to Jennifer and Jacob as well as her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service on Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22nd from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
