WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a recent Wilmington Little League game summary.
AA: Cardinals vs. Astros — Saturday, May 13, 2017
The Cardinals & Astros played at Rotary Park on Saturday. The Cardinals were dominant throughout as pitchers Kaleb Stanley, Logan Zimmer, and flamethrower Jake Banda made it difficult for the Astros’ bats all game. Stanley made a nice play while on the mound. Aiden Largenton and Ronny Jordan also contributed to the team’s strong defense. Eric Banda, Aiden Rivera, and Roman DiZoglio had solid singles while Zimmer and Jordan both smacked doubles and Jake Banda and Thano Mermaris homered. The Astros as usual mounted yet another late-inning comeback. On the mound, Erin McCarthy was dominant again as she struck out five in two innings. Kevin Pruslin and Quinn Stockman struck out one each and James Passerini made several defensive plays to help his cause while pitching. Joey Fennelly, Justin Fricia, Sweet Swingin’ Kyle Bridge, Connor Sullivan, Passerini, Stockman, McCarthy, and others made solid contact, resulting in many hits (highlighted by Sullivan’s mammoth double). Chris DeFilippo played good defense along with Fennelly, Fricia, McCarthy, Passerini, Stockman, Sullivan, and Pruslin. The last great play involved Sullivan making a huge throw from deep center field to nail a runner trying for a home run. Pruslin, the catcher, scooped up the short hop and applied the tag.
