OBITUARY: Bertha V. (Dutile) Jalbert, 97

LOWELL, MA — Bertha V. (Dutile) Jalbert age 97, a longtime resident of Lowell, formerly of Billerica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at D’Youville Senior Care with her loving family by her side.

Bertha was the loving wife of the late Richard L. Jalbert who died in 1981.

She was born in Billerica, MA on November 13, 1919 a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma E. (Beaulieu) Dutile. She received her education in the Billerica Schools.

Prior to her retirement in 1981, she had been employed by Data Metrics of Wilmington, MA for over 7 years.

Bertha was an associate to the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa for 25 years. She was a volunteer at D’Youville Senior Care for many years and was a member of the D’Youville Manor Ladies Guild. She was also a Eucharistic Minister.

Her survivors include a daughter: Linda Kurtz and her husband Joseph of Leesburg, FL., her son: Richard L. Jalbert, Jr. and his wife Ruth Ann of Dracut, MA., a granddaughter: Rachael Jalbert and her husband John P. McManus of Dracut, her two great-grandchildren: John R. McManus and Jessica Helena McManus both of Dracut. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Bertha was the grandmother of the late Richard L. Jalbert III. She was also the sister to the late Leona Barrett, Frederick Dutile, Peter Dutile, Edward Dutile, Arthur Dutile, Paul Dutile, Beatrice Cohen and Lucille Leach.

Bertha’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at D’Youville Senior Care for their care and compassion given to her during her time there.

Family and friends called on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM at the Archambault Funeral Home, 309 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Bertha’s Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday morning at 10 o’clock at the Parish of St. Rita, Mammoth Rd., Lowell. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations in Memory of Bertha may be made to D’Youville Senior Care, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA. 01854. Funeral Director, Victor J. Archambault, Jr. (978-459-9315).
