10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (April 29, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, April 29, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see Iisolated showers before 10am, then isolated showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 11am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Light southwest wind becoming west 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

#2) Participate in the purest form of democracy!  The Wilmington Annual Town Meeting will take place at 10:30am in the Wilmington High School Auditorium (159 Church Street).  The warrant can be read HERE. Wilmington Apple plans on live-tweeting it HERE.

#3) Meet sports celebrities at Rich Altman’s Sports Card & Memorabilia Boston Show, held on Friday, April 28 (noon to 7pm), Saturday, April 29 (9am to 5pm), and Sunday, April 30 (10am-4pm) at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) in Wilmington. Several past and current Patriots and Red Sox players are in town this weekend.  Learn HERE.

#4) The Town of Wilmington is participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day with a take-back event from 10am to 2pm at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street). The public is invited to anonymously surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction at this time. A kiosk will remain 24/7/365 in the building’s lobby for drop-off year-round.

#5) The New England Brass Band is holding a fundraising concert at 7pm at Wilmington’s Congregational Church (220 Middlesex Avenue). The band is a 30-piece brass and percussion ensemble, adhering to the instrumentation of the “British Brass Band” tradition.  The concert will feature great America and British music. Admission is a suggested donation of $10 per person.

#6) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding a Felt Succulent Planter Craft from 10am to 1pm. Learn more and register HERE.

  • 11:30 am (H) Girls JV Lacrosse vs MATIGNON HIGH SCHOOL, MA
  • 1:00 pm (H) Boys Varsity Lacrosse (Woburn) @ Wilmington High School

#8) The Wilmington Yardwaste Center on Old Main Street will be open from 9am to 4pm. Learn more HERE.
