LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Bryson Is A Leader Who Knows What Are Our Schools Need

To my fellow residents of Wilmington:

I am writing to you to express my endorsement and support of Jenn Bryson for the Wilmington School Committee. After being born and raised in Wilmington, I moved out and began a family of my own a few towns away.  Once my own children began to approach school age, I knew I had to get back to Wilmington, a town with a wonderful community and a town in which I had faith in the school system.  Everything aligned in the summer of 2016 and we were able to move back to Wilmington. Shortly thereafter I met Jenn and her family.

As a public school teacher myself for 16 years, I know it is critical that we elect individuals like Jenn Bryson who have a solid background in education and a thorough understanding of what it takes to ensure a 21st century learning experience for all our students.

Jenn has committed twenty years to the field of education as a classroom teacher and faculty member at Boston University. She spent ten years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in Chelsea and currently serves as the Faculty Director of Educator Preparation, Program Director for Elementary Education and a clinical instructor in the School of Education at Boston University.  She is a doctoral candidate in Language and Literacy Education and studies family-school partnerships and family literacy projects.

Jenn has two children, Hannah (grade 5) and Theo (grade 2) who attend Wilmington Public Schools and is truly invested in working to ensure that all Wilmington students receive a quality education. She has served on both the Boutwell and Shawsheen School Advisory Councils as well as the Shawsheen/West PAC. She has also been instrumental in coordinating one of the most successful PAC events for the last four years to raise $25,000 dollars for enrichment programs at the Shawsheen and West schools. You will find Jenn at the little league fields, string concerts, art shows, basketball games and the library where she serves on the Friends of the Library board. This past holiday season, I was able to participate in the neighborhood Christmas caroling tradition that Jenn has organized for the past 5 years and I learned that she does this for girl scout troops as well, she has a strong love for this town.   To learn more about Jenn, I would direct you to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JennBrysonForWilmingtonSchoolCommittee/.

As the Wilmington school system approaches a critical time of searching for a qualified superintendent to lead our schools, it is more important than ever that we vote in a qualified candidate into our school committee.  That is why I am confident that Jenn Bryson, a leader who knows what our schools need, a parent and an educator who knows and wants what is best for Wilmington, will have my vote.  Please join me in voting for Jenn Bryson for Wilmington School Committee on April 22nd.

She truly gets education.
