WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington native Stephen Peterson continues to excel in the Minor Leagues as a relief pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers’ AA-affiliate, the Biloxi Shuckers.
Peterson, who was named to the league’s All-Star team this season, currently sports an impressive 8-3 record, with a 2.77 ERA and a 47 strikeouts in 46 appearances.
“I’m lucky the Milwaukee Brewers gave me a chance as a free agent,” Peterson recently said in an interview posted on the Shuckers website. “I’m getting the opportunity to live my dream.”
“Hopefully I keep moving up and get to my goal of playing in the big leagues,” continued Peterson. “I’m going to do my part with the Shuckers and hopefully keep climbing the ladder.”
Peterson, who went undrafted and signed with the Brewers organization as a free agent in 2011, says he plays with a “chip on his soldier” and takes nothing for granted. He models his game, in part, after Red Sox great Roger Clemens. Peterson appreciates the support he receives from his team’s fans and the Biloxi community.
