WILMINGTON, MA — In the spirit of the holiday season, Rick Lowe, one of a trio of owners of the up-and-coming Tremezzo Ristorante, recently became interested in participating in a local charitable deed and/or giving event. After a little research, Rick and his Tremezzo associates have gone above and beyond his initial objective by becoming involved in three charitable events this weekend.
First, Tremezzo Ristorante is encouraging Wilmington residents to drop by to sign cards for Safyre Terry, the 8-year-old Schenectady NY girl who survived a home fire that damaged over 75 percent of her body and tragically claimed her immediate family members. Safyre and her heartbreaking story were featured in People Magazine and recently highlighted by several Boston news stations while she received treatment at Boston Shriner’s Hospital. Safyre’s Christmas wish this year is to receive Christmas cards from around the world to fill up her Christmas-tree-shaped cardholder. And in order to help Safyre fulfill her wish, Tremezzo has already collected over 100+ Christmas cards, which will be mailed to Safyre on Monday, December 13, 2015. For more information about Safyre, her custodial aunt, Liz Dolder, posts updates on her progress to a Facebook page called “Safyre Schenectady’s Super Survivor.”
Second, Tremezzo is also accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn through 16 years old. Donated toys will be delivered to the local Toys for Tots Coordinator on Monday, December 13, 2015, and will ultimately be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local community. Please note that Toys for Tots prefers not to accept realistic looking weapons and gifts containing food. If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.
Third, Tremezzo is also collecting donations of warm winter coats for kids, adults and babies in good, wearable condition for the 21st Annual Coats for Kids Drive. Donated coats will be cleaned free of charge by Anton’s Cleaners and then distributed through the Coats for Kids Distribution Partners Network. This coat drive is one of the largest in the nation, so please donate coats you would give a friend to wear. Please do not donate coats that have rips/tears, broken zippers and/or permanent stains, and please be sure to empty out all pockets.
If you want to make a donation to one or all of these charitable weekend events, please be sure to stop by Tremezzo Ristorante located in the Square One Plaza at 2 Lowell Street, Wilmington (near the intersection of Rts. 129 and 38), on Saturday 11:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. For more information, please call 978-447-5967 and/or follow Tremezzo on Facebook.
