Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Sheila F. Camic (Callahan), age 83, of Wilmington, formerly of Chelsea, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 9, 1943, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Sheila was the cherished daughter of the late Theresa (Ahern) Callahan and Francis J. Callahan. She was raised and educated in Stoneham.
Following her marriage, Sheila moved to Chelsea, where she lovingly raised her two daughters by herself, Miccal and Colleen. A devoted and hardworking mother, Sheila dedicated herself to providing for her girls and was always involved in every aspect of their lives, offering unwavering love, and support.
Throughout her career, Sheila worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for All Care Visiting Nurses and Aberjona Nursing Center, as well as providing private care for several patients. Sheila had a natural gift for caring for others. She took great pride in her work, treating each patient with the same kindness, compassion, and devotion she would give to her own family.
In 1995 shortly after her first grandchild was born Sheila moved her family to Wilmington, where she quickly formed lasting friendships with her many neighbors and became a beloved part of the community.
Family truly was the center of her world. Sheila especially loved playing bingo with her sister Beverly and looked forward to trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan with her sister Brenda, her brother Billy, and sister-in-law Cathy. She also treasured traveling to Florida with Brenda and brother-in-law Doug.
Nothing brought Sheila greater joy than being a grandmother. Affectionately known as “Niny,” she was a constant and enthusiastic presence in her grandchildren’s lives. She attended countless football and baseball games, cheerleading competitions—no matter how far she had to travel—and school events. She celebrated every milestone and accomplishment, beaming with pride whenever she spoke about her grandchildren. She was always there to listen, crack a joke, and be a trusted confidant.
Sheila cherished the simple pleasures and family traditions that brought everyone together, including trips to Revere Beach, visits to Kelly’s Roast Beef, ice cream outings with the kids, family picnics, and “glamping” adventures. These were the moments she treasured most, and they created memories her family will hold close forever.
Sheila will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and larger-than-life personality. Witty, feisty, and never one to be overlooked, she was often the loudest person in the room, with a bellowing laugh that could fill any gathering. Beneath her spirited personality was a heart of gold. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and gave of herself wholeheartedly. Her warmth, laughter, honesty, and unconditional love made her unforgettable. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sheila was the devoted mother of Miccal Camic and her husband, Luis Rivera, and Colleen Camic and Randy McCusker all of Wilmington. She was the loving and proud “Niny” of Hannah McCusker, Paige Rivera, Ayden Rivera, and the late Austin Camic, whom she adored.
Dear sister of the late Beverly Williams and her late husband, Wes of Florida; Brenda Andersen and her late husband, Doug of Wilmington; and Billy Callahan and his wife, Cathy of Mystic, CT.
Sheila is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and their families, along with countless dear friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Route 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, November 7th, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Sheila’s Life will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Sheila’s greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely, the laughter she shared so generously, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
