Greetings Neighbors:
It is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to the Joanne M. Benton Auditorium at Wilmington High School for our Annual Town Meeting on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The doors will open at 8:00 AM, and we ask that you arrive prior to the start of the meeting to expedite the check-in process. Many of the materials for the Annual Town Meeting, including the Warrant, are available on the town’s website: https://www.wilmingtonma.gov/town-meeting.
Electronic Voting
For the first time, we will be utilizing electronic clickers for voting on articles where a specific vote count is required, or a voice vote leaves doubt as to the result. While the anticipation is that this will greatly reduce the time that has been spent waiting for votes to be tallied, we recognize that this is change from prior practice. We have created a brief tutorial at WCTV explaining how this will work. Additionally, we are encouraging people to show up in advance, as we will conduct a tutorial at the beginning of the meeting so that voters are comfortable using this technology.
Order of Articles
Our Inhabitant By-laws prescribe the order that articles are taken up. As Article 1 deals with the expenditure of capital expenses, Article 1 will be addressed first. The remaining six Articles will be taken up randomly, with two caveats. As both Articles 4 and 5, and Articles 6 and 7, are reasonably related to each other, those will be taken as one drawing for action. So, when either Article 4 or Article 5 is drawn, we will first consider Article 4, then Article 5. Similarly, when either Article 6 or Article 7 is drawn, we will first consider Article 6, then Article 7.
Any resident who has questions about Town Meeting procedures may contact me at moderator@wilmingtonma.gov.
Lastly, I want to extend my gratitude to the town employees who put in a significant amount of work coordinating the logistics of this meeting, the volunteers who work to ensure that the meeting is well-run, and you, the residents who dedicate the time to attending town meeting to make decisions to direct your town government.
Respectfully,
Jonathan R. Eaton
Town Moderator
