WILMINGTON REC REMINDERS: Day Trip To See Final Show At Newport Playhouse Set For December 16

Below is an announcement of the Wilmington Recreation Department:

WILMINGTON, MA — It’s the final curtain call! Newport Playhouse is sadly closing at the end of 2026, so since this venue has been a popular spot, we decided to travel to a last-minute last show. Join us for…

“Social Security (For Christmas)”

Wednesday, December 16
9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
$130 per person ($135 non-residents)

Two shows, one buffet, and a whole lot of laughs! Travel to Newport, RI and watch the room transform before your eyes.

This hilarious Broadway comedy surrounds a married couple who are art dealers. Their domestic tranquility is shattered upon the arrival of the wife’s goody-goody nerd of a sister, her uptight CPA husband, and her archetypal Jewish mother. As they try to save their college-student daughter from the horrors of campus life, comic sparks really begin to fly when the mother hits it off with the elderly minimalist artist who is the art dealers’ best client!

Includes transportation, trip leader, a buffet luncheon and dessert, a Cabaret and “Social Security” show, and all taxes and gratuities (except driver).
