Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
TEWKSBURY, MA — Gregory “Greg” Corcoran, age 72, of Tewksbury, formerly of Methuen and Wilmington, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Greg was born on October 9, 1954, in Waltham, Massachusetts, the beloved son of the late Edmund J. Corcoran Jr. and Geraldine M. (Kennedy) Corcoran. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
On May 10, 1980, Greg married his high school sweetheart, Alison Arnold. Together, they made their home in Methuen for more than 25 years, raising their three beloved children and creating a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Family was the center of Greg’s life. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful father who was always there to guide his children, offer advice, and love them unconditionally. He coached hockey for his boys and attended countless youth and high school sporting events, always cheering from the stands. He also enjoyed following Merrimack College lacrosse when his son played. No matter what his children were doing, Greg was their biggest fan. They were his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to show how proud he was of them.
As his family grew, Greg welcomed his son-in-law and daughters-in-law with open arms, treating them as his own. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather. He adored his three grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them, whether teaching them something new, sharing a laugh, or spoiling them whenever he could. He was affectionately known as “Sleepy” to his grandson Jackson Griffin and “Grampy” to his granddaughters Margot and Elsie Corcoran. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable happiness, and he loved them dearly.
Greg was a hardworking and dedicated professional registered land surveyor for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he witnessed many changes in the real estate market and the surveying profession. He began his career with Kenneth Miller in Wilmington and later joined Dana F. Perkins Company, where he remained employed until his passing. Always committed to his profession, Greg continued taking classes early in his career to expand his knowledge and sharpen his skills. His strong work ethic, professionalism, and exceptional customer service earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
An avid Boston sports fan, Greg enjoyed following all the local teams, but the Bruins were always his favorite. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and skiing. He appreciated the peace and beauty of nature and especially looked forward to relaxing at the beach with his family. Trips to Kennebunkport and York Beach, Maine, were among his favorite getaways.
Whether traveling on a family adventure, celebrating a holiday, cheering at a sporting event, or simply relaxing at home, Greg was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. His wife, children, grandchildren, and faithful dog, Murphy, meant everything to him. The time they spent together was what he treasured most.
Greg will be remembered as a genuinely great guy—smart, kind, helpful, and fun to be around. He had a wonderful sense of friendship and an easygoing nature that allowed him to make friends wherever he went. His warmth, loyalty, generosity, and devotion to his family touched the lives of so many. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Greg was the beloved husband of Alison Corcoran of Tewksbury; the devoted father of Caitlin Griffin and her husband, Mark, of Haverhill; Gregory Corcoran and his wife, Alida, of Scituate; and Scott Corcoran and his wife, Jamie, of Plaistow, New Hampshire. Adoring grandfather of Jackson, Margot, and Elsie. He was the dear brother of Edmund “Ed” Corcoran and his wife, Gloria, of Wilmington.
He was also the brother-in-law of Keith and the late Janet Arnold, Bruce and Lorrie Arnold, Lyn and John French, Leslie and Dean Devlin, Thomas and Lisa Arnold, and Barbara and Michael Garofano. Greg is further survived by his three cherished grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews, and numerous dear friends.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Greg’s life will be held at a later date.
