Malden Catholic Announces Addition Of Sixth Grade

Below is a press release from Malden Catholic:

MALDEN, MA — Malden Catholic High School recently announced that it is responding to demand from families and will add a 6th grade beginning in the 2027 Fall Semester, extending the school’s highly regarded academics and athletics curricula to more students in a continuous 6-12 grade experience.

“Adding 6th grade is an important step in extending Malden Catholic’s academic mission to more students and providing them early on with the distinctive preparatory education that defines Malden Catholic,” said Michael Cantalupa, chair of the Malden Catholic Board of Trustees. “The new 6th grade is our response to the increasing demand from families who want their students to experience Malden Catholic’s approach to academics, character development, and community as soon as possible.”

The new 6th grade, combined with the 7th and 8th grades, will complete the Ryken Middle School Division, designed to meet the academic, intellectual, and emotional needs of middle school students and prepare them for high school at Malden Catholic.

“The addition of the 6th grade allows more time in our supportive community to cultivate Malden Catholic’s core values of simplicity, humility, compassion, trust, and zeal in our students while building the rigorous academic foundation that will ensure they enter high school on the strongest footing possible, prepared for success then and throughout their lives,” said Malden Catholic President John Thornburg.

The 6th grade will join the 7th and 8th grades in Malden Catholic’s new, cutting-edge 50 Crystal Street building, which features advanced classrooms for biomedical engineering, entrepreneurship, and robotics, as well as new athletic facilities, including the 32,000-square-foot Donovan Fieldhouse.

Boys and girls entering the new 6th grade will benefit from Malden Catholic’s co-divisional model, in which boys and girls learn in separate classrooms but interact in social and campus activities.
