PEABODY, MA — Dan Koh was declared the winner in the Democratic primary for Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District on Tuesday night, winning the nomination out of a crowded field of five candidates.
Addressing supporters at his election night celebration, Koh thanked the volunteers, community leaders, and labor organizations who powered his campaign over the past 11 months, including Massachusetts AFL-CIO, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and over 100 local elected officials, unions, and leaders.
Koh, the descendent of Korean and Lebanese immigrants, focused his campaign around lowering costs for working families and defending democratic institutions against the Trump administration.
“Donald Trump wants us to accept a vision for America where the wealthy thrive but working families struggle. We believe in a government that actually works for people, not special interests,” said Koh.
Koh also thanked the other Democrats who ran in the primary, saying the field was united on the need for lower prices, a stronger democracy, and a government that puts working families first.
Looking ahead to the general election, Koh said his campaign would compete across every part of the district, from Newburyport to Nahant and Tewksbury to Bedford, and would not shy away from making his case in living rooms, diners, and on Fox News.
Dan Koh is a Democratic candidate for Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District, the descendent of Korean and Lebanese immigrants who previously served as a senior aide in the Biden White House and as chief of staff to Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. He lives on the North Shore with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Theodora and Jack.
