Monday, August 24, 10am

This book group discusses contemporary books, both fiction and non-fiction, led by Library Associate Rebecca. Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the featured book. This month’s featured book is Every Day is a Gift: a memoir by Senator Tammy Duckworth. Registration required.

Needleworkers at Night

Monday, August 24, 6-8pm

These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in.

Connect with a Social Worker

Thursday, August 27, 6-8pm

The Wilmington Wellness Coalition, in partnership with Wilmington Memorial Library, offers free, confidential sessions at the library for any library patron who may need support. Meet with Samantha Cavanaugh, the Town of Wilmington’s social worker, for help with mental health, substance use, housing, food insecurity, transportation, applications, caregiver support, and more. The first hour will be for drop-ins on a first-come, first-served basis, and the second hour will be appointment based in 20-minute time slots.

Novel Ideas

After Hours: Line Dancing in the Library Lot

Friday, August 28, 6-7:30pm

Break out your boots (or sneakers) and come dance with us in the library parking lot! Never lined danced before? Instructor Julie Kaufmann from Julie Kaufmann Dancin’ will lead us through an introductory lesson. No partner or experience required! Registration required.

Wilmington Community Playgroup

Monday, August 24, 10am

The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join CTI for a community playgroup where we’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask CTI about any resources they can help provide for you and your family. Ages 0-6. Registration required.

Tie Dye

Tuesday, August 25, 2:30pm

This fun family tradition is back again! Bring something white (a shirt, socks, hand towel, headband etc.) and tie dye with us on the front lawn of the library! All Ages. Registration required.

Teen Tie Dye

Tuesday, August 25, 6pm

Come tie-dye outside with us! Socks & scrunchies to tie-dye will be provided (or bring your own item to dye). It’ll be messy; wear clothes you don’t care about. Grades 6-12. Registration required.

Family Movie Night: Hoppers

Wednesday, August 26, 5:30pm

Wear your pjs and bring something comfy to sit on for this special library event! Watch Hoppers (rated PG, 105 minutes) and enjoy delicious popcorn. All Ages. Registration required.

Manga Tryouts

Thursday, August 27, 3:30pm

Have a say in manga purchased for the teen collection with our Manga Tryouts club for grades 6-12! During each meeting, we’ll sample 1st volumes of different manga, and vote on whether it should be added to WML’s collection. Grades 6-12. Registration required.

Join us for an evening with bestselling novelist Allegra Goodman on September 17! Author of This Is Not About Us, Sam, The Chalk Artist, Paradise Park, and Isola, Goodman’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, Commentary, and Ploughshares. Allegra will discuss her work in a presentation at the Wilmington Senior Center. There will be a cash bar, book sales & autograph signing. This is a free event and open to all.
