WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Rotary Club will be hosting its 15th Annual Ice Bucket Challenge at Rotary Park across from the Public Safety Building on Saturday August 29, 2026, from 9:30am to 11:30am. All proceeds from this Ice Bucket Challenge are being donated to “The Angel Fund” for ALS Research.
The research is being conducted by Dr. Robert Brown and his staff at the UMass Chan Medical Center in Worcester where clinical trials are being conducted in the treatment of individuals who have been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
This is always a FUN Community event for a great cause. ALS has no cure, but research and treatment have been prolonging lives while researchers continue to seek specific causes and look for a cure for this always fatal disease.
The Wilmington Rotary Club would love to have you stop by and participate in this great cause by either dumping a bucket of ice water over your head with friends, teammates or relatives on a steamy hot Saturday morning, and/or to come by and make a donation to help the cause of continuing the research. No appointment is necessary… just come on by and join in the festivities.
Join the WHS Cheerleaders, WHS Field Hockey, WHS Cross Country, WHS Football, and other Community Organizations, businesses, and impacted families as we unite to support this great cause. If you are unable to attend, donations can be made to “The Angel Fund” c/o Wilmington Rotary at P.O. Box 503 in Wilmington.
In addition, the Annual ALS Walk for Hope will be held at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield on Saturday morning, September 12th. Be inspired, and join with hundreds of others who walk around the Lake in support of finding a cure.
