OBITUARY: James A. Ritchie, 73

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — James A. Ritchie, age 73, of Seabrook, NH, passed away on July 20,2026.

Born on March 25, 1953, in Winchester, MA, Jim was the son of the late John and Olive Ritchie. A graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1971, Jim dedicated his entire career to Automotive Service Management. After retiring, he embraced the life he had always looked forward to – spending winters golfing and enjoying the sunshine in Florida.

Jim’s greatest joy was the life he shared with his beloved wife and best friend, Jeanette (Gardner) Ritchie. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless happy memories.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Julie and her husband Chris Harris of Haverhill, MA; his son, James Ritchie of Haverhill, MA; his stepson, Archie (Milly) Janvrin IV of Albany, NY; and his cherished grandchildren, Natalie and Christopher Harris. He also leaves behind his brother, William (Donna) Ritchie of Tewksbury, MA; his sister, Anne (Tom) Coates of Wilmington, MA; along with many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members, and dear friends. Lastly, he leaves behind his beloved fur baby Popsicle.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Kevin Sullivan, and his parents John and Olive Ritchie.

Jim’s passions were simple but meaningful. He treasured every moment with Jeanette, loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed countless rounds of golf, and never passed up the chance to share a few “Sociables” with good friends at the Elks Club while watching one of Boston’s sports team. His easy smile, quick wit, and gift for making people feel welcome will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

In true Jim fashion, he wanted to leave one final message for some very special friends:

“Thanks for the memories.”

With heartfelt appreciation to Steve and Donna, Jimmy and Clorinda, Geno and Donna, and Paul and Kathy for the laughter, friendship and unforgettable times shared over the years.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Sunday, July 26th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, July 27th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
