The following is a message from the Wilmington Department of Public Works Water Division:
WILMINGTON, MA — As a reminder, under the Town’s new Water Registration, the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs has declared a Level 3 – Critical Drought. As such, all non essential outdoor water uses are currently banned.
The following activities are prohibited under the current drought status: using town water to irrigate residential and commercial lawns, running sprinkler systems on anything other than athletic fields, washing cars, and other forms of non-essential outdoor watering.
These conditions will remain in effect until the state lessens the drought classification.
Under the Town’s current Inhabitant’s Bylaw, violations of the water ban will result in the issuance of fines.
Abiding by the water ban is essential to ensure the town’s water system maintains adequate pressure, to ensure adequate fire protection, and to preserve water levels in the town’s storage tanks.
For more information, please visit the DPW’s website at www.wilmingtonma.gov/public-works. Updates will be posted on the town’s website and on the town’s official social media
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
