Born on July 26, 1957, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Reggie was the beloved son of the late Alderic and Rita (Despres) Babineau and one of five siblings.
As a young boy, Reggie immigrated to the United States with his family, who settled in Wilmington, where he was raised, educated, and graduated from Wilmington High School in the Class of 1976. Wilmington remained his home for all his life, and he was well known throughout the town.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Reggie developed a love for athletics at an early age. He played Wilmington Little League Baseball and Wilmington Youth Hockey, and his passion for both sports continued well into adulthood. He later enjoyed playing in several local softball leagues before discovering what would become his favorite pastime—golf. Reggie cherished the friendships he made on the golf course and especially looked forward to his golf trips with “the guys” to California and Florida. Those trips created countless memories filled with laughter, camaraderie, and friendly competition.
Reggie was a hardworking and dedicated professional throughout his life. He began his career in the construction industry before establishing and operating his own successful concrete forms business. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect and trust of his customers through his craftsmanship, honesty, and commitment to doing every job the right way. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.
Above all, Reggie will be remembered for his easygoing nature, loyal friendships, love of sports, and the genuine kindness he extended to those around him. He was always there to help others and share his time and talents towards his family and friends. He leaves behind many cherished memories that will forever be held close by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Reggie is survived by his sons Joe Babineau of North Andover, Brian Babineau of California, and their mother Janice Babineau formerly of Wilmington, as well as his granddaughter Kaylee Babineau of North Andover.
He was brother of Norman Babineau of Canada, Phyllis Brown and her late husband Steve of Chichester, NH, the late Theresa “Terry” Ulm, and Thomas Babineau and his late wife Claire of Tewksbury.
