Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Walker C. Spring—beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Walker passed away peacefully at his home in Wilmington, Massachusetts, on June 20, 2026, just weeks before what would have been his 94th birthday on July 12, 2026.
Born on July 12, 1932, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Walker spent most of his life in Wilmington. His long and meaningful life was defined by devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and an appreciation for life’s simple joys. His steady presence and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Walker graduated from the University of Rhode Island and soon thereafter married his high school sweetheart, Ann Branscombe. He was an army officer and served a tour of duty in Korea. Upon returning home, he spent his career working in corporate insurance in the Boston area.
Walker enjoyed golfing, square dancing, watching his boys participate in sports, and televised sporting events. In retirement, he remained an avid golfer, spending many happy hours on the course and enjoying the camaraderie the game brought. He especially cherished summers at his lakefront camp in New Hampshire, where he found peace by the water and created treasured memories with family and friends. During the winter months, he enjoyed time on St. Simons Island, Georgia, embracing its coastal beauty and relaxed pace of life.
Walker was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann (Branscombe) Spring, and his brothers, Howard and Hobart Spring.
He is survived by his three sons: David Spring of Plaistow, New Hampshire; Douglas Spring and his wife, Diane, of Phillipston, Massachusetts; and Dana Spring of Wilmington, Massachusetts.
He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jessica (Spring) Barrett and her husband, Brad, of Royalston, Massachusetts; Justin Spring and his wife, Morgan Beatty, and their twins, Silas Walker and Maxine, of Chicago, Illinois; Britni (Spring) Kelleher, her husband, Mike, and their children, Brooks, Audrey, and Grant of Hampstead, New Hampshire; and his grandson, Brandon Spring of Amesbury, Massachusetts. Walker is also survived by his sister, Susan (Spring) Raesner of Narragansett, RI.
Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon followed by a Family Memorial Service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
