Born in Winchester, Massachusetts, on August 13, 1972, Russell was the cherished son of Cynthia “Cindy” (DeCaprio) Walsh and the youngest of three siblings. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a member of Wilmington High School’s Class of 1990, where he formed many lifelong friendships. Following high school, Russell attended trade school and earned his certification in HVAC.
Russell enjoyed a successful career built on hard work, dedication, and an outgoing personality that made him a natural in sales. He spent many years as an Account Executive with Pacer Electronics, Wesco/CSC, Anxiter and Accutech before recently joining Port Electronics. His strong work ethic, integrity, and ability to connect with people earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Russell truly embraced life. He worked hard and played hard, finding his greatest joy outdoors and surrounded by the people he loved. He had a deep appreciation for nature and especially loved spending time in the mountains of New Hampshire. Some of his happiest memories were made during trips to Lincoln and North Conway with his daughter, Abby, exploring trails, taking in the scenery, and creating lasting memories together.
Camping with family and friends was another favorite pastime. Russell could often be found tending the grill, dancing around the campfire, sharing stories, making everyone laugh and putting everyone to bed at the end of the night. An avid fisherman, he particularly enjoyed chasing big bass and spending peaceful hours on the water. He was also a passionate skier who took great pride in teaching Abby to ski when she was just three years old.
Russell’s adventurous spirit led him to many memorable travels, including cruises throughout the Caribbean and many vacations to somewhere warm and tropical, his favorites were Key West and Aruba. No matter where he went, he brought his enthusiasm, humor, and love of life with him.
Above all else, Russell’s greatest priority was his family. He was a devoted son who spoke with his mother every day and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a loving and supportive brother to his sister, Kelly-Ann, who he also spoke with daily, and a proud uncle and great-uncle.
His most treasured role, however, was that of father. Russell was a devoted dad to his beloved daughter, Abigail “Abby” Walsh. He showered her with unconditional love, unwavering support, and endless encouragement. Abby was truly his world, and he was immensely proud of the remarkable young woman she has become. The bond they shared was extraordinary, and they enjoyed doing everything together.
Russell was also a loving and devoted soulmate to Laura Gomez. He treasured the life they were building together and embraced the special relationship he shared with her sons, Lucas, Nicholas, and Stephen Gomez.
Known for his heart of gold, Russell was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He could fix just about anything, never hesitated to lend a hand, and always put others before himself. His quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and gift for storytelling brought joy to everyone around him. With his warm smile and endearing personality, Russell had a way of making people feel welcome and valued. He loved gathering with family and friends, especially during the holidays, and his presence was often the heart of every celebration.
Russell will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, loyalty, and the genuine love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
