WILMINGTON, MA — It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert LaRivee, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Robert passed away, like in his life, his own way, surrounded by sounds of family laughing, crying, telling life stories, a true dedication to how he lived.

Robert was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, the beloved son of the late Rene and Marjorie LaRivee. He was preceded in death by his brother Rene LaRivee Jr., and his sisters Jeanne Begonis and Elaine Duden, whose memories he held dear.

A proud alumnus of Wilmington High School, Robert graduated in 1957. His journey of learning continued at Northeastern University, where he graduated with honors in 1978, a testament to his unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961, stationed with the 99th Field Maintenance Squad, Strategic Air Command at Westover, Massachusetts. His service was recognized with the Good Conduct Medal, awarded on December 5, 1960, a reflection of his dedication and integrity.

After his military service, Robert dedicated 30 years to the Town of Wilmington as a Police Officer. Rising through the ranks from Patrolman to K-9 Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, he retired in 1998, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, commitment, and community service.

Robert’s life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of love for the outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, or shooting 3D archery, he found his peace and joy in nature. Yet, his greatest love was his family. Married to his beloved wife Toni for 58 wonderful years, Robert’s devotion to her was unwavering. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and love. His daughters, Nicole LaRivee Vecchi and her husband Angelo, and Charleen LaRivee Osborne and her husband Richard “Ozy,” were his pride and joy. His five grandchildren, Ryan, Ashlyn, Lucien, Gianna, and Celia, were the lights of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Robert is further survived by many nieces and nephews and their families whom he adored.

Robert was also an active participant in various organizations, including the Blue Knights, the Elks, and the Tyngsboro Sportsman’s Club, where he forged lifelong friendships and shared his passion for community and camaraderie.

Known for his infectious smile that could light up any room, Robert had a unique ability to make everyone feel cherished.
