RACE FOR THE SIXTH: New American Leaders Action Fund Endorses Tram Nguyen For Congress

Below is a press release from the Tram Nguyen For Congress campaign:

ANDOVER, MA — The New American Leaders Action Fund (NALAF) recently endorsed Tram Nguyen’s campaign for Congress, saying she is “a proven leader who has dedicated her career to fighting for New Americans and those at risk of being left behind.”

NALAF is committed to increasing New American representation at all levels of office by supporting bold New American candidates running for office.

“The New American Leaders Action Fund is proud to once again endorse Tram Nguyen,” said Anne Flomenhaft, National Political Director for NALAF. “She’s a proven leader who has dedicated her career to fighting for New Americans and those at risk of being left behind through her work as an attorney, in the State House and hopefully soon, in the halls of Congress. She’s the embodiment of the American Dream that brought her family to this country and we couldn’t be more proud that she’s taking the next step to run for a higher office to serve the people of Massachusetts.”

Nguyen has an ever-expanding list of endorsements, including Progressive Mass, the SEIU State Council and Massachusetts Governor’s Councillor Eunice Zeigler who announced their support earlier this week, and more than fifty of her colleagues in the State House, numerous city and town leaders, and six other labor organizations throughout the district and state.

ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320. In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.
