Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Marianne (Ireton) Marino, age 63, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on December 10, 1962, in Medford, Massachusetts, Marianne was the cherished daughter of the late Bernard and Joanne (Licata) Ireton. She was raised and educated in Revere, where she proudly cheered for Revere High School and graduated with the Class of 1980.
Growing up, Marianne formed many lifelong friendships and treasured the summers she spent in Ossipee, New Hampshire, with her beloved Uncle Frank and Aunt Kathy, as well as the wonderful times she shared with her Ireton family in Wells, Maine. These experiences created countless cherished memories that she carried throughout her life.
Marianne continued her education at Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She began her professional career as a paralegal with Hoffman & Hoffman Attorneys at Law, but after several years in the legal profession, Marianne followed her true calling and joined the Child Focus Center in Charlestown. Her passion for working with children, nurturing their individuality, and encouraging their growth ultimately led her to the Wilmington Public Schools, where she became a beloved substitute teacher. Marianne had a remarkable gift for connecting with students, treating many as if they were her own. She inspired learning, helped with countless school projects, and made learning fun through her warmth, patience, and enthusiasm.
On June 25, 1988, Marianne married her sweetheart and best friend, David Marino. Together they built a beautiful life, making their home in Wilmington in 1994, where they lovingly raised their two children, Kerrianne and Joseph.
Family was the center of Marianne’s world. She was a devoted wife and mother who attended countless school functions, sporting events, and milestones. She encouraged her children to always do their best, work hard, and, above all, be kind and compassionate people. Marianne shared a special bond with her parents, sister, mother-in-law Edie, and the entire Marino family, especially her sisters-in-law who she considered her sisters. She was always the first to offer help, never came empty-handed to a family gathering, and faithfully sent cards and thoughtful gifts to remind loved ones how special they were to her.
Marianne was an extraordinary cook, famous among family and friends for her chicken or eggplant parmesan followed by her signature chocolate chip cookies and a cup of coffee. Her home was always decorated, and her table was always full. She loved gathering family and friends together for food, laughter, and conversation, taking genuine interest in the lives and well-being of everyone around her.
The holidays were especially magical in Marianne’s home. Festive decor filled every room, gifts overflowed beneath the tree, and there was always more than enough food for any unexpected guest or extra friend. With her larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, and incredible sense of humor, Marianne truly was the life of every gathering. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, included, and loved.
In her spare time, Marianne enjoyed browsing TJ Maxx and Marshalls in search of hidden treasures and looked forward to shopping trips and lunch dates with family and friends.
One of Marianne’s greatest joys came recently when she became “Mimi” to her beloved grandson, Charlie. Hearing him say “Mimi” for the first time filled her heart with happiness. She was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more grandchildren and already held a special place in her heart for those precious babies.
Marianne will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile, boisterous laugh, kind heart, endearing personality, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. She was truly one of a kind and will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Marianne was the beloved wife of David Marino; devoted mother of Kerrianne Marino and her husband, Jonathan Hagyard, of Chelmsford, and Joseph Marino and his wife, Amanda, of Tyngsborough; and loving and adoring “Mimi” of Charlie Hagyard. She was the dear sister of Karyn Millerick and her husband, Jack, of Stoneham, and the late Joseph Ireton. She was also the adored daughter-in-law of the late Louis and Edith Marino and sister-in-law to Janice Marino, Stephen Marino and his partner Carol Viola, Paul Marino and his wife Debbie, Marsha Marino and her partner Russell “Bussy” Adam, and Michelle Howard and her husband Jeff.
Marianne is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
