WILMINGTON, MA — Darrell Maxfield, known as “Max” to his family and friends, of Wilmington, passed away on May 19, 2026, at the age of 63.
Born in Westfield, Massachusetts, on February 7, 1963, Darrell was the beloved son of the late Bruce and Janice (Bennett) Maxfield. As a teenager, Darrell moved with his family to Wilmington, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1982.
Throughout his life, Darrell had a deep passion for music and was an exceptionally talented drummer. During his teenage and young adult years, he played with the local band “North,” along with several other bands, performing at clubs and venues throughout the area. Known for his energy and talent behind the drums, Darrell made many lasting friendships through music over the years.
Darrell worked for many years as a courier with Absolute Delivery.
In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends. He especially loved animals, with a genuine love for German Shepherds and cats.
Darrell will be fondly remembered as a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and loyal friend. His kindness and warm spirit will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darrell was the beloved brother of Debbe Zwahlen and her husband Ron of Tewksbury, loving uncle of Alyssa Zwahlen and Derek Zwahlen, and nephew of Susan DeBisschop and her husband Bob.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Graveside Service on Friday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Darrell’s memory may be made to MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
