OBITUARY: Ronald “Ron” P. Buccheri, 78, Longtime Cameraman For WCTV

WILMINGTON, MA — Ronald P. “Ron” Buccheri, age 78, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2026 after a long battle with cancer at CareOne of Peabody.

Ron was born on June 29th, 1947 in Stoneham, MA as the eldest child of the late Paul Buccheri and Rose (LaPuma) Buccheri. Ron’s family moved around several times before settling in Stoneham where he had many fond memories with his younger sisters and family. Ron graduated from Stoneham High School in the class of 1965, then continued his education at the Northeast Broadcast School and Bunker Hill Community College, where he earned an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts.

Ron took his passion for broadcasting and turned it into a career. He began working at WGBH Channel 2 Boston shortly after graduation from broadcast school and had a long and successful career there until his retirement. Once retired Ron continued to pursue broadcasting by partnering up to create Taplin North LLP. a broadcasting consultant group. As part of Taplin North Ron worked extensively with Wilmington Community Television, WCTV, for many years, often donating his services. Through WCTV Ron became known throughout town for his broadcasting of Town Meeting, Select Board Meetings, and other civic events. Ron was even awarded a Key to Wilmington in recognition of his years of work and service.

When he moved to Stonehame at age 9 Ron met his soulmate Mary DiCarlo. They were friends from that day and started dating when they were both 14. They remained together through high school and got married in 1970. Ron and Mary moved to Wilmington in 1972 where they raised their son, Jason, and remained until Ron’s passing. Through 64 years of being together Ron and Mary continued to be each other’s greatest love and favorite person.

Ron enjoyed his role as a husband and father, he was always happiest when with his family. Ron also enjoyed photography and music, as well as being an amateur meteorologist. Ron liked being able to help others and he was involved in charitable organizations in town such as Local Heroes and iPods for Veterans.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife Mary (DiCarlo) Buccheri, of Wilmington, and his cherished son Jason Buccheri, of Wilmington. Ron was the loving brother of Donna Pyatt of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Sharon McGrath and her late husband Michael of Wakefield. Ron was the brother-in-law of Peter DiCarlo and his wife Debbie of Stoneham and Roseanne Anderson and her late husband Kenneth of Groveland. Ron was the special uncle of Richard Pyatt, Jeffery Pyatt, Michelle Patenaude, Kenneth Anderson Jr., and Gina Whooley. Ron is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Nichols Funeral Home 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62) in Wilmington on May 25th, 2026 for Visiting Hours from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. A funeral home service will take place immediately following at 6:00 P.M. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Ron’s memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital http://www.stjude.org.
