LETTER: Former School Committee Member Jay Samaha Endorses Dr. Jenn Bryson For Re-Election

Dear Editor and Members of the Wilmington Community,

I am writing today to offer my enthusiastic support for Dr. Jenn Bryson in her run for re-election to the Wilmington School Committee and encourage all residents to do the same.

As a former Wilmington School Committee member, I have had the pleasure of working directly with Dr. Bryson on a wide array of school committee business. She brings an open-mind and is willing to hear all sides of an issue before making a decision. These qualities are exactly what Wilmington needs in order to further the important work being done to make our schools even better than they are today.

She has been a consistent leader on the committee serving in a number of positions including both chair and vice-chair. She also brings real-world educational experience to the committee having been a teacher and now as the Program Director of Elementary Education at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education. In her role at BU, she helps prepare the next generation of teachers which requires her to have extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of our educational system. This knowledge is indispensable to the work as a school committee member.

It’s important to look at her track record as a member of the Wilmington School Committee. She was instrumental in the push to re-open schools after the Covid-19 pandemic shut down, her expertise helped move the district through the MSBA process that culminated in the final approval for building a new elementary school on the north side of town, and her leadership has proven invaluable in both the hiring of an interim superintendent and new permanent superintendent.

Please join me in supporting Dr. Bryson for the Wilmington School Committee!

Sincerely,

Jay Samaha
Former Member, Wilmington School Committee
