LETTER: Frank West Is Dedicated & Independent-Minded, Was Only Select Board Member To Uphold Community’s Wishes To Save The Buzzell In 4-1 Vote

Dear Editor,

I am writing to enthusiastically endorse Frank West for reelection to the Wilmington Selectboard.

Frank has demonstrated a deep and enduring commitment to our community through his years of service, as a selectman from 2002 to 2005, and again from 2023 to 2026. As a lifelong Wilmington resident and a proud graduate of Wilmington High School’s Class of 1980, Frank brings both historical perspective and genuine personal investment in the future of our town. His experience as the owner of West Real Estate since 1994 further reflects his long-standing dedication to the local community and economy.

What sets Frank apart is his accessibility and willingness to listen. He looks at issues thoughtfully, considering all aspects, he is consistently approachable and responsive when engaging with residents. He understands that effective leadership begins with hearing the concerns and priorities of the people he serves—and he takes that responsibility seriously.

A clear example of Frank’s integrity and commitment to representing the will of Wilmington residents occurred at the September 22, 2025 Selectboard meeting. Despite the fact that approximately two-thirds of Wilmington residents who responded to survey supported preserving the historic Buzzell School building, Frank was the only member of the board who voted to save it. While others chose demolition over the wishes of the people who elected them, Frank stood firm in representing the voices of the community, even when it meant standing alone. That kind of principled leadership is rare and deserves recognition.

We live in an age where our elected officials run roughshod over the electorate, ignoring their wishes and disrespecting them as people. Frank West has been nothing but honorable, thoughtful and respectful all the time I’ve known him.

Frank West has proven that he is dedicated, independent-minded, and truly focused on serving the people of Wilmington. I strongly encourage my fellow residents to support his reelection.
