Meet Wilmington’s Newest Eagle Scout — Will Putney

Below is an announcement from Scouting America Troop 56 in Wilmington:

WILMINGTON, MA — Will Putney, of Wilmington, has earned Scouting America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award.

A member of Scouting America Troop 56, Wilmington, Putney is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Dave Adamek.

Will Putney started his scouting journey as a Webelos Scout in Cub Scout Pack 361, Wilmington and continued his rise to success in Troop 56, Wilmington. Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church, or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle; Putney chose to redesign the children’s room in The Book Store Next Door to create more space and make the books more accessible to kids. He directed a team of volunteers to build custom shelves, organize books into colorful new bins, install elements like new lighting and slat wall for book displays, seat cushions for window seating, and many more special features.

Troop 56, Wilmington extends their heartiest congratulations to their newest Eagle Scout, Will Putney.
