Wilmington High School Holds 20th Annual Freshman History Fair

Below is a press release from Wilmington Public Schools:

WILMINGTON, MA — On Tuesday May 14, 2024 & Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Wilmington High School held its 20th annual Freshman History Fair.

Freshmen taking U.S. History in a Global Perspetive I completed on a three-part differentiated instruction project. In the first step of the project, students learned about the reliability of using Internet sources for historical research. They evaluated websites and narrowed down a list of valid sources to create an annotated bibliography. After completing their research, students demonstrated their newfound knowledge in a final product.

Each 9th grade class chose two projects to be showcased at the history fair. The following prizes were awarded:

Most Original: Megan Smith (Fashion History & Its Connection to History)
Best Use of Primary Sources: Sia Petal (Black Death)
Most Knowledgeable Presenter: Katelyn LaPointe (History of Cancer)
Student Favorite: Molly Lovell (The Trial of Phillis Wheatley)
3rd Place Overall: Parker Canevari (The Journal of Genghis Khan)
2nd Place Overall: Emma Callahan (Renaissance Architecture)
1st Place Overall: Aidan Raposa (Arches and Art in the Sistine Chapel)
