OBITUARY: William Joseph Savage, Jr., 86

MEDFORD, MA — William Joseph Savage, Jr., age 86, of Medford passed away on Tuesday, April 23rd, in Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late William Joseph Sr. and Jean (McGregor) Savage. William left home as a teenager, traveling extensively for his job in horse-racing. After marrying he lived in Wilmington and was employed as a glazier. William enjoyed reading and going to the casino, and he especially loved music.

William was the beloved husband of Josephine (Marchese) Savage, and the devoted God-Father of Victoria Bevins of Tennessee. He was the dear brother-in-law of David Marchese and his wife Dawn, Joseph Marchese and his late wife Nancy, Jo-Ann Ryan, Rose Marie Marchese, the late Rocco Marchese and his surviving wife Elaine, the late Gerard Marchese and his surviving wife Janet, the late Robert Marchese, Anna Burchfield and her husband Eugene.

Relatives and friends were invited to visit with his family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, April 30th from 9 through 11 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services concluded with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in William’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
