Starbucks Eyeing A Second Location In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, MA — At last week’s Wilmington Economic Development Committee meeting, the Town’s Economic Development Coordinator Jayne Wierzbicki provided a brief update on the development at 203 Lowell Street, on the corner of Lowell Street and Woburn Street.

The project’s proponents have revised their plans for the site. Back in 2018, the project called for a 3-story commercial building with 7 retail stores on the first floor and office space on the second and third floors. The proponents have decided to reduce the height of the building to one floor and focus solely on retail tenants and a possible restaurant.

Below is the latest rendering of the proposed single-story commercial building:

In addition, the project originally called for a standalone bank, but plans now show a drive-thru coffee shop. While the Planning Department could not disclose the name of any prospective tenant, the project’s latest rendering resembles a Starbucks.

A 50-unit apartment complex is being constructed towards the back of the site.

The project’s proponents will be in front of the Wilmington Planning Board on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 7:30pm in the Town Hall Auditorium for a public hearing to attain a stormwater management permit and multi-family special permit, as well as complete site plan review.

The Town announced yesterday that a 3-year, $5+ million intersection improvement project abutting this location is slated to begin in mid-August. New left turn lines in all 4 directions, new traffic signals, new sidewalks, bike lanes and more will funded through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
