Below is a modified announcement from the Reading Municipal Light Department:
READING, MA — RMLD is blazing a trail toward a noncarbon future finding innovative ways to decarbonize its power supply while providing reliable and low cost electricity. To that end, the theme of this year’s High School Art Contest was Trail Blazing. Students were asked to visually portray the concept of trail blazing while incorporating the RMLD and/or electricity into their artwork.
Six winners were selected based on the creativity of the artwork and the message that was portrayed. Amongst the winners was Wilmington High School senior Lauryn Hurley, who received the “Most Clever” Award for her submission, “Dare To Stray From The Heard And Forge Your Own Path.”
Hurley, and the five other winners, received a gift card for school or art supplies.
All participating students received a certificate for ten hours of community service for taking part in the contest.
