Library Director Job Opening

Wilmington Memorial Library seeks an innovative, forward-thinking leader with proven management skills to serve as Library Director. Wilmington Memorial Library serves a town of 22,000 residents. The Library Director oversees a $1.3 million budget and supervises 12 full-time and 12 part-time employees.  The Library Director will work with a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, a devoted Friends of the Library and a supportive Board of Library Trustees and Town Administration.

Since 2005, the Library Director has worked with library staff to meet challenging space constraints by implementing a makeover that created a user-friendly welcoming environment. In 2022, the library received a $100,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation for the redesign of the first floor of the library which is currently underway. Wilmington Memorial Library is known for its robust program offerings and for its outreach and marketing initiatives.  A list of library awards and the library’s five year strategic plan can be found on the library’s website.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library Science and certification by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners within an agreed-to timeline with the Library Board of Trustees. Minimum five years professional library experience including two years in an administrative position or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong public service orientation and be able to foster innovation and move the library forward to stay relevant and valued by the community. Must be level-headed and judicious with a professional manner and can-do attitude. Salary Range for FY24:  $89,675 to $113,476.
