WILMINGTON, MA — Ethel F. (Cain) Butters, born on September 5, 1930, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home, April 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Butters, Sr., loving mother of Robert Butters, Jr. & his wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, Nancy Burgess & her fiancé Bill Stephens of Plymouth, Bruce Butters & his wife Lorraine of Port Orange, FL, George Butters & his wife Barbara of Roswell, GA, Kathryn Butters of Plymouth, Angela Peruzzi & her husband Larry of Plymouth, and Fred Butters & his wife Deborah of Sudbury. Cherished “Nana” of Amy McIntyre, her husband Rick and their son Cameron, Evan Butters & his fiancé Rachel Garrity; Robert and Annie Burgess & her fiancé Tyler Russell; Stephen Butters & his wife Aimee, Carly Butters; Kelly, Christopher and his son Remington, Lauren and the late Jonathan Butters; Christian, Alec, and Benjamin Peruzzi; Rachel and Camille Butters. Daughter of the late Fred and Ann Cain; dear sister of Fred Cain, Bobby Cain, Nancy Burke, Jimmy Cain, George Cain and Cathy Burke, and sister-in-law of Anne “Ethel” Butters. Ethel is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ethel dedicated her entire life to her family. She enjoyed traveling, near and far, visiting family and friends, but most of all, she loved being at home with a full house celebrating the holidays, special events or just time spent with loved ones. She welcomed everyone who visited. She was always ready to prepare a meal, always thinking of others in their time of need. Ethel had an unconditional love for all in her life, and was adored by everyone she met. She will always be remembered as a giving, thoughtful, and loving Mom. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), WILMINGTON on Tuesday, the18th day of April 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 12:30pm. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
