WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Moulton has joined the newly formed Congressional Dads Caucus, a forum for Members of Congress to advocate for legislation that supports working families.
Congressman Moulton is a dad of two daughters under the age of five. He was one of the first members of Congress to take paternity leave for the birth of his first daughter in 2018, and took leave again when his second was born in 2021. He is a strong supporter of paid family leave and has advocated for expanding the Family and Medical Leave Act.
“There’s nothing I love more than spending time with my girls, and the hardest part of this job is being away from them. But they are lucky to have a mom who’s home more than I am, and great pre-school programs they love. So many families don’t have any of this,” said Congressman Moulton. “Now that I’m a parent, I realize that there’s nothing more impressive than being a single working parent—I don’t know how they do it! And that’s why it’s unacceptable that America is trailing most of the developed world in basic services like affordable childcare and parental and medical leave.”
Dads Caucus members believe in policy solutions that help working families thrive, including paid family and medical leave policies for all, expanding the Child Tax Credit, increasing access to childcare, and supporting other policies that reduce poverty and ease the burden on working parents. The U.S. is the only industrialized country without mandatory paid parental leave.
