OBITUARY: Janice M. (Westcott) Burke, 83

WILMINGTON, MA — Janice M. Burke (Westcott), age 83, a longtime resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023.

Janice was born on August 15, 1939, in Wilmington, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Swain) Westcott. Janice was raised and educated in Wilmington.

Janice is survived by her husband of over 47 years Robert T. Burke, she was the devoted mother of Charles Dana Michaud, Alfred Guy Michaud and his wife Terri, Robert Joseph Burke and his wife Genesa, and Dawn Elizabeth (Burke) Didion. She was the loving grandmother of eight granddaughters, three grandsons, two great granddaughter, and one great grandson. Janice was the dear sister of Beth Westcott, the late William Westcott, Robert Westcott, David Westcott and Daniel Westcott. Janice is also survived by her longtime friend and mother-in-law Helen Burke, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Janice had a love of music from polka and golden oldies to the Gospel hymns; she enjoyed dancing with her husband Bob every chance she got. Janice loved cardinals, spending her time in the garden, and heading out to play bingo with her friends. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Janice will be fondly remembered for her kindness, compassion and love she showed everyone; Janice dedicated her life to caring for people and raising her children, grandchildren, and many foster kids. She was well known around the town of Wilmington as she spent many years of her life caring for the seniors of Wilmington in many ways, including delivering meals on wheels. Janice always had a great smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She will be truly missed by all who loved her.
