WILMINGTON, MA — Cops For Kids With Cancer has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to families dealing with childhood cancer. Eight Wilmington families have received $5,000 grants from this organization to help them deal with the many expenses that arise when dealing this childhood illness.
As part of our 150th year-long celebration, the Wilmington Police Department wanted to show our them our appreciation and support in gratitude for all they do. With the assistance of some of our Officer’s spouses, we were able to raise $7,775 to assist Cops For Kids With Cancer in helping even more families.
Chief Joseph Desmond, joined by representatives from Reading Cooperative Bank and EXIT Family First Realty, Wilmington, MA, were pleased to present Sal Mirabella from Cops For Kids With Cancer with the funds raised. Chief Desmond was presented with a flag plaque in recognition for the WPD’s ongoing support for Cops For Kids With Cancer.
The Wilmington Police Department would like to extend our gratitude to the Wilmington Police Patrol Officers Union NEPBA Local 1, Wilmington Police Association, Wilmington Fire Fighters IAFF Local 1370, Wilmington Dental Studio, Lowellfive Bank, Citizens Bank Northeast Team, as well as the many individual residents who contributed to this cause!
