LIBRARY LINEUP: History Of Italian Art On Oct. 13; Cat Café For Teens On Oct. 15

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

The library will be closed on Monday, October 10 in observance of Columbus Day.

Adult Programs

INDOOR Cookin’ the Books
Tuesday, October 11, 12pm
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you. Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online), register on the library events calendar and record your recipe. Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes! Featured Cookbook: Back Pocket Pasta by Colu Henry.

INDOOR Craft and Chat
Wednesday, October 12, 7pm
Enjoy making a craft while socializing with others! This craft group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. All craft supplies provided. Led by longtime crafter Rachelle Toth. Featured Craft: Paperback Book Pumpkin.

INDOOR History of Italian Art
Thursday, October 13, 7pm
Martha Chiarchiaro, founder of Seeing History, will present an hour-long program focusing on the history of key Italian artists and some contemporary Italian-American artists Martha holds a Master Degree in the History of Art from Williams College and has traveled extensively in Europe and the U.S, visiting museums. She has been bringing history to life through art for more than 30 years.

INDOOR Needleworkers
Friday, October 14, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie.

VIRTUAL Poetry Circle
Saturday, October 15, 9:15am
Do you enjoy writing poetry? Want input on your work? If so, this group is for you. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials in advance. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras. If you are interested in attending this event, please email the Adult Services Librarian adultservices@wilmlibrary.org. Please include the title of the program in the subject heading. This event will be held over Zoom. You will receive an invite from the presenter prior to the program date.

INDOOR Just Desserts for Teens

INDOOR Switch it Up! Video Game Club

INDOOR Crafternoon: Galaxy Pumpkins

VIRTUAL Near and Far Book Group

Kids and grandparents! If you are missing your loved ones that live far away, join our book group and enjoy books together virtually! Each month, we’ll read one book together as a group, have some fun discussions and then families will have a chance to break off into groups and read a book or two together. INDOOR Music With Dara

With keyboard, felt board, finger puppets, and engaging visual props, Dara weaves songs (old and new favorites), fingerplays, rhythmic activities/simple instrument playing, and creative movement for a fun-filled musical 30-45 minute program. Lots of clapping, marching, singing, creative expression and FUN! Ages 2-5

INDOOR Cat Cafe with the Billerica Cat Care Coalition

Come hang out with cats from the Billerica Cat Care Coalition at a WML Cat Cafe! Meet adoptable cats and de-stress at this drop in event for grades 6-12. Grades 6-12

INDOOR Teen Book Club
Saturday, October 15, 2pm
Just in time for Halloween, Teen Book Club will be reading The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis, an Edgar Allan Poe inspired YA horror! Copies will be available for checkout prior to the meeting. Grades 9-12

VIRTUAL D&D
Saturday, October 15, 3pm
Interested in finding out more about this fantasy tabletop role-playing game, or looking for a group to play with? Join us for a virtual campaign via Zoom every month with DM Mike! Please register using the email address where you’d like to receive the Zoom invitation (no school emails, please). You will receive the Zoom invitation via email at least an hour before the program begins. You will need to register for an account on D&DBeyond before playing. Please email us at teens@wilmlibrary.org with any questions. Grades 6-8

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.

The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.
