LIBRARY LINEUP: All Are Welcome To Tiny Art Show Reception On October 5

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Programs

INDOOR Mini Succulent-Topped Pumpkin Demonstration
Monday, October 3, 2:30pm
Master Flower Show Judge and Wilmington resident Kathy Leva will demonstrate how to make long lasting mini succulent-topped pumpkins. These make wonderful gifts or dazzling place settings. When the mini pumpkins fade, you can plant and grow the succulents. Each participant will receive a take & make kit to create their own at home.

INDOOR Italian Cooking with Eladio
Monday, October 3, 7pm
Learn how to make chicken/eggplant parmigiana the Italian way! Eladio Guevara, owner of EJ’s Fresh Pizza in Wilmington, will demonstrate how to make it so it turns out delicious every time. Samples provided.

INDOOR How to: Get a Real ID
Tuesday, October 4, 7pm
Real ID requires multiple documents that tends to be confusing, and during this presentation Representatives from AAA North Reading will explain what is going to happen and when, detail the documents needed to get a Real ID, and answer any questions. They will also bring license applications and Real ID checklists.

VIRTUAL 50+ Jobseekers
Wednesday, October 5, 9:30am
If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! This week’s topic (October 5) is creating a LinkedIn Profile.

INDOOR North End Heritage
Thursday, October 6, 7pm
Join Father Michael Della-Penna pastor of St. Leonard’s Church in the North End and Dr. Jim Pasto co-founder of the North End Historical Society in a talk about life in the North End. Dr. Pasto was born and raised in the North End and is working on a book about the post-WWII history of the area.

INDOOR Needleworkers
Friday, October 7, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie.

Youth Programs

INDOOR Kids Costume Exchange Drop Off!
Monday – Friday, October 3 – October 7, All Day
Kids grow fast! Donate your old costumes anytime between September 24th and October 7th, then come back on Saturday, October 8th, 10am – 4pm for a costume exchange and pick out a new-to-you costume! All Ages

INDOOR Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, October 3, 10am
The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is back for a weekly playgroup! Join us for our community playgroup where we will work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask us about any resources we can help provide for you and your family! Ages 0-5

INDOOR Lil Bookworms Book Club
Wednesday, October 5, 3:30pm
This book club is for students in Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2, and features books, reading comprehension and an activity. Siblings welcome. Grades K-2

INDOOR Tiny Art Show Reception!

INDOOR Lego Building
Thursday, October 6, 3:30pm
Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans at the library. At the end you can share what you made! Grades K-5

INDOOR Exploration Station: Fossils!
Friday, October 7, 10am
Calling all future paleontologists! Dig for bones, discover dinosaurs, and other hands-on STEAM activities to celebrate National Fossil Day! Ages 2-5

OUTDOOR Drop-in Storytime

Come enjoy this fun outdoor storytime that includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Ages 2-6

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.

Open Saturdays & Wednesdays, 10am – 4pm
Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2.
The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.
