OBITUARY: Nancy E. Carpenter, 77

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Nancy E. Carpenter, age 77, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2022.

Nancy was born on April 8, 1945, in Winchester, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph E. and Josephine M. (Costello) Carpenter. Nancy was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1964.

Nancy enjoyed many things in life like going to the beach and soaking up the sun or traveling where she would experience many new places and meet new people, but nothing compared to her family.

Nancy’s family was always her number one priority; she was the “best mom in the world” to her two daughters, Marianne and Colleen. Nancy molded them to become hardworking and independent women while she showered them with unconditional love and support. When her girls married, Nancy gained two wonderful “sons” in Allen and Paul; she treated them as her own and they loved her. Nancy’s role as “Grammy” to Christina and Matthew, was her favorite one; they were her “everything” and she adored them. Nancy never missed an opportunity to get to a sporting event, school event, or just “hang out” with her grandchildren; she beamed with pride as she spoke of the wonderful adults they were becoming, and she loved them with all her heart.

Nancy will be fondly remembered as a quiet lady, very kind. She loved to do for others but never wanted any attention on herself. She touched so many throughout her life and will forever be in their hearts.

Nancy was the devoted mother of Marianne Gagnon and her husband Allen of Tewksbury and Colleen Spinos and her husband Paul of Wilmington, special “Grammy” of Christina and Matthew Spinos, dear sister of David Carpenter of Elverson, PA and the late Joseph E. Carpenter, Jr. Nancy is further survived by her nieces, nephews and their families as well as her many friends.

At Nancy’s request all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy’s memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and mail to: Mass General Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington, MA. To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit our website at www.nicholsfuneralhome.com.
