WILMINGTON, MA — Shirley I. (Lowe) Hand, age 93, of Wilmington passed away on Thursday, July 21st. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late James and Pearl (Milton) Lowe. Shirley worked for many years in the billing department at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Shirley and her husband Leonard spent winters in Florida, and enjoyed many a Pina Colada and rib dinner. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, most recently on a trip to California.
Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Hand, and the devoted mother of Leonard Hand Jr. and his wife, Pavla Sim, of California, Carol Watkins and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, Deborah Hand, Sharon Ditroia, and Robin Loguidice and her husband James, all of Wilmington. She was the loving grandmother of Heather Geddes and her husband Deane, Amanda Wallen and her husband Jeff, Lorene Ditroia, and Justyn and Jaret Loguidice. Shirley was the great grandmother of Elizabeth Geddes and Wyatt Wallen, and the dear sister of the late Verna Martin, Beulah Dunne, Jessie Murphy, Charles Lowe and Virginia Darger. She is also survived by her cherished niece, Pearl Brown.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on September 1st. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and are encouraged to revisit this posting for updated information.
