OBITUARY: Alfred V. Antinarelli, Sr., 79

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Alfred V. Antinarelli, Sr. fondly known as “Al” or “Fred” to his family and friends, age 79, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born on July 31, 1942, in Boston, MA. He was raised and educated in South Boston before moving to Wilmington at the age of 16. Fred went on to attend Wilmington High School where he graduated with the Class of 1960 and where he met his “high school sweetheart” Ann Hastings. Fred went on to continue his education at the North Bennett Industrial School where he learned his carpentry trade. This led to a long and rewarding career.

Fred went to work with the Town of Wilmington as a carpenter. He was instrumental in assessing and fixing public buildings, schools, and offices. Fred got along well with his co-workers, many of whom became good friends throughout the years. Fred retired in 2003 following 37 years of dedicated service to the Town of Wilmington. Fred also worked several years as part of Town of Wilmington Election Staff in different roles including Precinct 5 Warden, which he was very proud of.

Fred and Ann married in April, 1964 at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Wilmington. As a wedding gift from her parents, Fred and Ann, were given a piece of land in Wilmington. Fred cleared the land by hand, designed and built their home on his own.

Fred’s family was always his priority. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Fred loved his family, especially his grandchildren and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Fred loved family holidays and always made sure there was plenty of food. No one left hungry for sure.

In his spare time, Fred, enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, and was known to be a “Mr. Fix It” to his family and friends. Fred never gave up and was always up for a challenge when it came to fixing something. Fred also enjoyed participating in his bowling leagues throughout the years, snowmobiling with family and friends, fishing and being outdoors. Fred always looked forward to spending time with Ann at “The Mountain”, their vacation home in Grafton, NH.

Fred will be fondly remembered as a great guy who would do anything for anyone. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. Fred had a soft spot for animals especially his rescue dogs who brought him so much comfort. Fred will remain forever in the hearts of those he loved.

Fred was the beloved husband of Ann Antinarelli (Hastings), devoted father of Annette Hennessey & husband Jim of Lynn and Alfred “Fred” Antinarelli, Jr. & wife Erin of Wilmington, loving “Papa” of Daniel “Dan” Hennessey and Alison “Ali” Antinarelli, cherished son of the late Amelia (Caruso) and John Suplee.

Family and friends gathered at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, July 6th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours were held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
